nutrition guide overview

The science of nutrition is constantly changing and often controversial. Where to begin? Let’s begin with the foundational five.

Quality –The more organic, the better. We’re better off staying away from foods that have been sprayed with pesticides, dye or inoculated with growth hormones and antibiotics.

Freshness
– The more fresh foods in our diet the better. That naturally means an abundance of fruits and vegetables daily. A fun fact, less than 1% of all people eat the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables per day. Be one of those 1%.

Color – The more the better. Experiment with the colors of the rainbow - green, orange, red, purple, blue, red, yellow. Decide you can find at least 2 fruits or vegetables in each color. Make them a part of your diet.

Variety – Try to eat different types and colors every day. Avoid eating the same thing for breakfast, lunch or dinner every day. We are creatures of habit, and it’s easy to fall into food ruts.

Whole Foods – At Mindfullyfed, we consider whole foods those that look the most like themselves on our plate as they did when they were alive. A whole apple. A whole carrot. A whole bean. A whole grain of rice, oat or barley.
